Facts & Figures
According to the official reports, this year there has been 1000 % additional rains as compared to previos years in the history. 4.5 million acres of land and more than 8.2 million people have been affected and are homeless across the 23 districts of Sindh due to recent devastating rains. 2.1 million acres of crop area has been damaged and a great number of livelistock are perished. The nature of this years floods in some ways is more dangerous and destructing as compared to those in 2010. The most affected areas of Sindh are districts of Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyear, Umer kot , mithi etc.
What Taryaq has done
Summary
Alhamdulillah, Taryaq team is working round the clock for rehabilitation of flood affected people. Short summary of our effort so far is as follows,

Crockery items worth Rs. 160,000 for most affected areas of Sindh (20-10-11)

Food items worth Rs. 500,000 for most affected areas of Sindh (04-10-11)

- Distribution of 75 food packages worth Rs. 100,000 for flood affected people of Kasur, Punjab (27-08-11)
Taryaq Objectives
Taryaq’s immediate aim is to provide food to the homeless people in most devastated areas on war footings.

Facts & Figures
The worst floods in the history of Pakistan even worst than Tsunami have devastated the lives of more than 20 million people, more than 1600 people died and hundreds of villages swallowed by this flood. 1.5 million houses damaged due to these floods so far. The disaster have caused more than US $ 5 bn worth of damage to the country’s agriculture industry, and more than 1.7 million acres of farmland has been destroyed by widespread flooding in the country. 200,000 heads of livestock have been killed so far. 3.5 million children are at risk of deadly diseases.
Taryaq has been working around the clock to respond to the urgent need for relief to the flood affected areas all over Pakistan . Short summary of our effort so far is as follows,
What Taryaq has done
Summary
Alhamdulillah, Taryaq team is working round the clock for rehabilitation of flood affected people. Short summary of our effort so far is as follows,
- Collection & distribution of PKR 11.685 Million starting from 01.08.10 to 14.04.11
- Reconstruction of 46 houses (14x16 ft room, 6x6 ft bath room) at Bastee Qasaiwala near Baseera District Muzafargarh (Status 100 % completed by 20-02-11)
- Reconstruction & expansion of exisiting mosque named as Masjid "TAQWA" at Bastee Qasaiwala (Status 100 % completed by 12-03-11)
- Reconstruction of 1 single room house, 1 double room house and 1 three toom girls' madrassa at Nowshehra (Status 100 % completed)
- Distribution of 6 food trucks in Nowshehra, Muzafargarh, D.I. Khan, Kalam
- Cash distribution of Rs. 5000 each to 317 families in Muzafargarh & Nowshehra
- Distribution of 1100 blankets/quilts, 3238 old jackets, 500 mattresses, 3800 pair of socks and 50 bundles of clothes in Nowshehra, Muzafargarh
- Distribution of medicine for treatment of patients in Nowshehra & Kot Addu
- Installation of 24 water hand pumps in Nowshehra at public places
- Construction & execution of community center consisiting of school, dispensary, vocational training at Bastee Qasai wala near Baseera District Muzafargarh (Status in progress)
- Set up of collection camp at Lahore for old & new winter clothes, blankets and beddings
Contribution
Taryaq believes that each and every penny contributed by all our donors irrelavent of the amount counts and we are thankful to all our donors for their contribution that helped us to consume each and every penny for helping flood victims. Some of the major contributions are
- Pakistan Arts & Culture trust UK (PACT) have contributed 30,000 pounds
- Excel group of companies have contributed 1000 food packages & 524 quilts.
- Bali Memorial Trust Lahore have contributed 500 mattresses, crockery & unstitched suits
- Muslim Women Forum UK have contributed for 3 houses
- Hamdard welfare programme has contributed for the roofs of 46 houses for this project
- Hamdard welfare programme has also contributed in the construction & execution of mosque
- A villager contributes 2 kanals of land for Taryaq community centre consisting of school, vocational training centre & dispensary
- Mr. Majid Shah (Islamabad) has sponsored for 1.5 houses

Taryaq Objectives
Short Term
Taryaq’s immediate aim is to provide food to the homeless people in most devastated areas on war footings. This aim has been achieved to great extent. Enough food is available now in most of the areas. People are back to their homes, however requirement of medicines, blankets and other basic necessaties continues.
Long Term
Taryaq’s aim over the next 3-6 months is to help in the rehabilitation of 500- 1000 families. This would include
1. Cash help @ 5000 each family (target 500-1000 families depending upon funds availability). 317 families have been helped so far.
2. Installation of 24x hand water pumps in Nowshehra to help people get clean water for drinking, cleaning of flood affected houses.
3. Cash help to small shop keepers/business holders (Rs. 10,000 each) to get back to their business (Target 50-100 depending upon funds availability)
4. Reconstruction of houses (46 houses reconstructed at Bastee qasaiwala and 2 houses & 1 madrassa at Nowshehra)
